The Texas Supreme Court recently denied review of an appeal in the case of Bailey & Peterson v. Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, affirming that the state’s white-tailed deer herd, including those held by breeders, are owned by the public. Full article here

This is such a difficult ethical question. Private ownership of wildlife has been a saving grace for countries like South Africa. Marginal cattle farms have been converted to their natural state for wildlife. Most of South Africa's conserved land is in private hands. Private wildlife ownership also unfortunately leads to some questionable practices with ethical considerations of their own. What is your take on the private ownership of wildlife?
